Fashion industry may seem far removed from forests, but well-known materials such as rayon, viscose, modal, lyocell all originate from forests. As the fashion industry increasingly focuses on sustainability, many brands are choosing man-made cellulose fibers (MMCFs) as a more sustainable material. However, despite their renewable nature, MMCFs have the potential to lead to deforestation and illegal logging, jeopardizing global forests if responsible sourcing is not achieved.
As the world's most trusted forest certification system, FSC's sustainable forest management concept helps companies verify that their products and materials are responsibly sourced, ensuring that the textile supply chain practices responsible sourcing.
Fashion Forever Green Pact, an initiative launched by FSC, calls on all members of the textile industry, including brands, retailers and manufacturers, to take immediate action to safeguard forests through responsible sourcing.

On October 25th, at FSC Asia-Pacific Summit 2023, FSC held a award ceremony for Fashion Forever Green Pact. As a global sustainable fashion solution provider with innovative fibres at its core, Grace recognized the potential challenges faced by the fashion industry and has taken the lead in signing Fashion Forever Green Pact and hopes to create a transparent and ethical supply chain through FSC’s relevant standards to promote fashion sustainability.
Song Wei, Deputy General Manager of Grace, was invited to participate in the parallel forum "Sustainable Fashion: Building a Stronger, Greener Tomorrow Together" together with Ravinder Tujeja, Material Program Lead of H&M; Venus Chong, Business Development Manager of Lenzing Fibers Limited; and Catherine Xu, Vice-President of Value Sourcing Group, to discuss the sustainable challenges and opportunities in the supply chain of MMCFs.
Kim Carstensen, Director General of FSC, said, "Looking to the future, the demand and production of forest-based fibers will increase significantly." As a responsible MMCF producer, Grace will establish a good partnership with FSC and all cooperative partners, practicing the concept of "Green Manufacturing, Circular Development", and working together to create a resilient and recyclable fashion industry, so that fashion and forests can coexist and grow together.
